Anyone got good finical advice?
I’m 19 and just starting out in the world. (I plan to go to college eventually, but it’s not realistic for me right now.) Are there any books I could read to get myself prepared for handling my fiances? I’ve been good with saving money, but I know there are tips and tricks for people who understand the system. Right now I live in an apartment in NYC and am 100% independent of my parents (finally! It took 1.5 years to be able to support myself.)
I literally have a savings account and a checking account. No retirement fund, no health care (as of yet), no credit score, no stocks, ect.
I know there are tons of books/web sites/whatever to get started on this stuff. Any one have any good suggestions to point me in the right direction? In this economy, every penny counts.
Here’s a quick series you can start reading right now:
- Ramit Sethi’s “I Will Teach You To Be Rich” is, in my opinion, the best book out there for young people when it comes to finances.
- the websites getrichslowly.org and thesimpledollar.com are also very helpful.
