Is it illegal to trade in my employers stock if i have noticed trends?

I have company stock in a 401k, so I monitor it. I’ve noticed a cycle in the stock values. Is it illegal for me to buy and sell the stock based on the trends I’ve noticed since I work there?

Of course not. That’s public information. You can trade all day and night on it. Shorting your employer’s stock is kinda poor form though…

Edit: “But, if someone’s questions it, you will bear the responsibilty of proving what you did was legit.” I guess in Oklahoma you are guilty of insider trading unless you can prove otherwise. It just doesn’t work that way.
