Does Fidelity still charge extra to buy penny stocks?
I know they used to charge extra for more than 1000 shares or something like that. For example if I buy 30,000 shares of an OTC penny stock will I be charged the standard $7.95 or is there something additional?
Neither Fidelity or most of the major firms charge extra to trade penny stocks HOWEVER, this does not mean they encourage their customers to do so.
For brokerage firms, the execution, clearing and storage of penny stocks is expensive so firms do what they can to discourage such activities.
If accounts do nothing but penny stocks, many firms will eventually hit those customers with maintenance fees
So to respond to your question, Fidelity will only charge the standard commission.
